RAYS Play & Learn (Kaleidoscope)

RAYS is proud to offer a FREE Kaleidoscope Play & Learn group at the Skyway Library on Wednesdays from 10 to 11:30 am. Our groups are open to the public, all community members with children eage newborn to 5 years old are encouraged to attend, no prior registration needed. Kaleidoscope Play & Learn groups help families prepare their young children for success in school and life. This program reaches families in their neighborhoods through facilitated playgroups with circle time, movement, art, story time and a snack.
At a Kaleidoscope group, children have fun playing games and being around their peers. Parents and other caregivers learn:
Activities they can do at home to support children’s learning
Turning everyday activities- such grocery shopping, cooking and bath time- into early learning opportunities
Early childhood development
Skills children need to have when they start school

Play and learn groups are provided for parents, family, friend and neighbor care providers and children in Skyway. We focus on learning through facilitated play using school readiness skills that support children ages birth to five. We are culturally responsive and empower parents to empower the children with education.

Mars Rover Races Science Workshop

Presented by Lindsey Childers, Foundry10.
Scientists use coding to program the Mars Curiosity Rover to run as autonomously as possible. Practice writing and interpreting “unplugged” simple coding to help a “human rover” travel through an obstacle course.

We can’t all get bitten by a radioactive spider, or mentored by Peter Parker; but we can all hone Miles Morales’ other great skill, graffiti art! Come draw on our meeting room’s walls (but only on the parts covered in butcher paper…) and tag your own stickers (which you should only put where you have permission…). All while we listen to Into The Spiderverse’s sound track, and just generally get pumped for Skyway Outdoor Cinema’s screening of Spiderman Into The Spiderverse on Friday.
